When it came to muscle cars in 2022, there were a handful of options for the consumer. But out of them all, Dodge ended the year on top of the pile. The Challenger and Charger seemed to be the number one choice against the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro. Dodge absolutely conquered the world of muscle cars in 2022.

How they did it is quite fascinating. The brand as able to use its range of options within its muscle car range and strong sales figures to really get on top of the competition. Plus, Dodge have also looked to the future with the first ever electric muscle car. Dodge is doing so well that even thieves can’t get enough of the Challenger!

In 2022, there were nine models available for the Dodge Challenger. These range from the SXT to the GT and GT AWD, to the R/T, R/T Scat Pack and the SRT Hellcat. Some of these are further enhanced with the availability of widebody Challengers. Meaning Dodge had plenty of variety throughout its entire range. The variety of engines is also impressive with the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 on offer, with 717 hp, 797 hp and 807 hp. For those who want something a little tamer, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 chucks out 375 hp and there is a 485 hp 392 Hemi as well. The base models feature the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 303 hp.

The list of what is on offer for the Challenger goes on, with a huge array of exterior and interior colors, the Widebody package and the Hellcat Redeye as well. The Charger offers eight models within its range for 2023, including the Charger SRT Hellcat, the SRT Hellcat Redeye and the Charger GT. So there is one thing the consumer can’t do and that is complain about the variety of cars on offer with Dodge’s muscle car range. But perhaps what is most impressive about Dodge is what they are doing for the future.

Dodge are working hard to secure the future of muscle cars. This is on full show with the very special Dodge Charger Daytona SRT for 2024. This is the first electric muscle car we have lain eyes on, as Dodge look to the future of muscle. A pair of options are set to go on offer, with a 455 hp and 590 hp version while a Banshee is also on the way which could offer up to 1,000 hp of electrical goodness. The new Charger for the electric era features an incredibly impressive design.

Not only that, but the car will be tunable as well. This will have to get done via official routes, but it shows Dodge are keen to evolve the muscle car segment and not leave it stale. Ford is sticking to ICE with the latest Mustang and we may not get another Camaro from Chevrolet after 2023.

Knocking Dodge off the top is going to prove a big challenge for all of its rivals. It has a clear path for the future of muscle cars, and is already offering plenty of variety with the Charger and Challenger. It is easy to see just why Dodge had such a good year in 2022. They are even creating an SUV with classic muscle car performance in the form of the new 2023 Hornet. Ford are most likely to challenge Dodge going forward, and they will have a big task on their hands to knock Dodge out of that number one spot.
